We are on an aggressive pursuit to find an EXPERT at building optimization models to identify solutions for problems with numerous constraints. The Operations Research Scientist must be skilled at data analysis/programming with the ability to apply/interpret complex statistics/measurement. This role will offer technical leadership for our Research division at one of the following locations: Monterey, California, Hightstown, New Jersey, or Centennial, Colorado.
You will be responsible for designing and developing systematic applications of advanced numerical optimization models, including those that support innovative test assembly and delivery systems, as well as integrated assessment and learning systems.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to apply your operations research experience to novel applications as you lead or collaborate on projects aimed at developing innovative assessment systems that provide integral support for CTB's products and contracts. Upon joining CTB, the successful candidate will lead the implementation of a new Automated Test Assembly System, and will collaborate on the development and delivery of Computerized Adaptive Testing systems. You will carry out and/or supervise others in developing the systems, conducting related research studies, and producing supporting documentation and professional papers.

* Participate in the design and implementation of an automated test assembly system that will support the full array of CTB assessments
* Collaborate with leading industry experts in the development of innovative assessment delivery systems, including Computerized Adaptive Testing
* Be responsible for solving complex algorithms utilizing sophisticated integer programming software suites (e.g., CPlex Ilog)
* Develop and implement a research agenda that advances the integration of optimization models into assessment and learning systems
* Bring operations research industry expertise to the table, contributing to the general procedures and policies implemented by Research colleagues
* Develop appropriate research methodologies, budgets and schedules
* Identify appropriate data collection and analysis strategies, interpreting and reporting results
* Direct or contribute to multiple projects at one time requiring flexibility
* Write research papers for internal use, presentation at professional meetings, and professional journals
* Remain current with new research methodologies and technical advances described in the literature
* Carry out leadership roles in professional organizations
* Maintain a focus on digital technology incorporating into daily activities
* Supervise the activities of other Research Scientists and Associate staff
Here is what YOU will need to be successful:
* Master's in operations research, psychometrics, educational measurement, statistics, or a related field. Ph.D. preferred!
* 5 years post-degree experience in at least one of these fields
* Proven ability to build optimization models to identify solutions for problems with numerous constraints
* EXPERT in data analysis/programming; ability to apply/interpret complex statistics/measurement
* Experience using integer programming software suites (e.g., CPlex Ilog)
* Advanced knowledge of database/system design principles
* Proficiency in Java, .NET, and/or other programming languages
* Ability to solve complex conceptual problems implementing problem solutions proactively
* Proven ability to participate in and lead cross-functional teams
