TheMarketing Directorwill set strategic direction for our key print and digital product lines including business, technical, computing, and education with a strong focus on leveraging digital marketing initiatives and analysis to understand and drive consumer demand for products in these lines. A critical component of this leadership role is coaching, mentoring and developing the marketing teams to produce creative, effective results; grow in their roles; and develop a strong presence for marketing in the US business through collaboration with different functions-especially editorial and sales.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Develop overarching marketing strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders and drive execution against tactical plans. Drive customer/consumer understanding and bring the consumer's voice into our product development through analysis and research. Shape the role of marketing in the organization and manage marketing talent to deliver exceptional results in consumer engagement and sales impact.
* Partner with colleagues and marketing leaders in other Hubs to support channel approach and marketing operations, integrate research and analysis into decision-making.
* Act as key member of product development including Editorial Boards, hook meetings, cover meetings, digital review board. Develop team to do the same. Review new projects, set expectations for marketing, bring voice of consumer from around the world into product development. Help estimate opportunity, sales and distribution goals.
* Working with VP, Global Marketing, create and manage marketing plans and budgets for each marketing program in order to maximize revenue and profitability. Assign resources based on business priorities, opportunities and profitability as well as title count.
* Manage individual product-line marketing managers for all product lines including business, education, computing, and technical.
* Collaborate closely with other related functions-Digital Direct Marketing, Creative, Copy, Ad & Copy, Publicity
* Manage the creation and placement of all advertising - consumer/end-user, trade, catalogs, etc.
* Work with international hubs to build collaboration and shared best-practice.
* Seek out, integrate and utilize information from sales staff.
* Strong understanding of professional publishing business developed through at least 8 years experience in the industry.
* Proven marketing results with deep product knowledge in at least one of our strategic product areas of business, medical, technical.
* Demonstrated ability to build collaboration across functions in order to align strategies, priorities and to develop and lead people to achieve their goals. Experience in international English-language markets a significant plus.
* Fluency in key marketing concepts and tools including email, social media marketing, publicity and channel marketing to help drive demand
* Experience in voicing viewpoint in assertive, non-confrontational manner to build credibility and integrate the voice of the customer in our business.
