McGraw-Hill Professionalhas an exciting opportunity for a SrEditorto join our award-winning editorial team in New York City.

TheSenior Editoris a high-level entrepreneur responsible for acquiring a minimum of 20-25 titles within the McGraw-Hill Professional: Business group in business categories fitting the department's Vision/Strategy and respective assignments. The Senior Editor must meet title count, revenue, and profit goals according to the acquisitions schedule and must exceed department publishing standards for both editorial quality and process. The Senior Editor acquires 5-7 lead titles per year, as well as develops 1-2 strategic alliances/partnerships.

Responsibilities:
* Sign a minimum of 20-25 author contracts annually
* Solicit proposals from agents, work closely with authors to flesh out the Vision of the books, make presentations to Ed Board
* Develop long-term strategic partnerships
* Successfully negotiate author contracts, including advances, royalty rates, licensing, etc., while minimizing financial exposure/risk
* Review manuscripts and transmit to Managing Editor for Project Management
* Edit and project manage select list of his/her own titles (approximately 5-6)
* Champion books at sales meetings, cover meetings, and other forums

Bachelors degree in a related discipline
Minimum of 7 years of related acquisitions experience
Demonstrated success in publishing business books for the trade, global and special sales markets
Strong knowledge of the publishing and acquisitions process
Strong knowledge of the assigned categories and competitors
Ability to successfully negotiate author contracts according to company parameters
Ability to transmit and/or manuscripts and provide direction to Project Managers and Production
