The School Education Group, the leading provider of print and digital educational materials for Grades PreK-12, has immediate openings for an Assistant Editor to work on a contractual basis in Science, Biology, Environmental, Chemistry, Earth Science and Physics for grades 9-12, located in our Columbus, Ohio office.
Responsibilities include:
* Analyze the competition, identifying strengths and weaknesses
* Monitor and evaluate pedagogical and content area research and trends
* Participate in project planning
* Correlate educational materials to national and state science standards
* Communicate project requirements to authors, consultants, and freelance editors
* Prepare manuscript, ensuring accuracy, readability, and grade-appropriateness in accordance with project specifications
* Complete photo and art requisition forms
* Maintain and meet project schedules
* Perform other editorial duties as assigned
Required:
* Bachelor's degree with a major in Science or Science Education
* Excellent English language skills
* Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office product, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
* The successful candidate must be a team player, organized, and detail and deadline oriented
Desired:
* Previous teaching experience
* Experience with K-4, In-Design, and In-Copy
