We've brought GradeGuru.com to life, a learning platform launched by the Higher Education Group, which brings traditional study groups to the social web.
The School Education Group, the leading provider of print and digital educational materials for Grades PreK-12 has openings for Assistant Editors for elementary science to work on a contractual basis. These positions are located in Columbus, OH.
Responsibilities include:
* Assist in the planning and development of instructional materials, such as textbooks, workbooks, and other print and electronic ancillary materials programs.
* Develop and edit manuscript for content, accuracy, reading level, grammar, style, and length.
* Identify problem areas in content and recommend solutions.
* Assist in the development of project schedules
* Coordinate and oversee the work of outside freelancers or vendors to provide supplemental editorial assistance.
* Work closely with marketing, production, design, and manufacturing to ensure that market requirements, project schedules, and goals are met.
* Must be detail oriented and able to edit a variety of materials in a timely manner.
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Science.
* Science content knowledge (through education).
* Ability to demonstrate outstanding communication and thinking skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing and grammar.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Desired:
* Editorial experience.
* Two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
* Educational publishing experience.
* Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
* Experience with Adobe InDesign or InCopy.
